Batam, Batamnews – Good news for the people of Batam! The Batam City Government is preparing to construct a new road connecting the Batam Centre Public Service Mall (MPP) to the upscale KDA area in Batam Kota. This route is anticipated to become a strategic alternative to Jalan Sudirman and will pass through the rapidly developing Central Hills area.

Head of the Batam City Communications and Information Agency, Rudi Panjaitan, confirmed that the road construction project has entered an important phase.

“It’s still in the tender process. Once the tender is completed and the objection period has passed, the project will be immediately executed,” he told reporters on Thursday (May 22, 2025).

Rudi emphasized that the public need not worry about the project stalling. On the contrary, the MPP-KDA road is part of the Mayor of Batam’s priority programs for this year.

“This project will definitely be carried out this year because it’s one of the Mayor’s priority programs,” he stressed.

The new road will be a breath of fresh air for Batam residents, especially those frequently traveling from the Batam Centre area to KDA. Besides shortening travel time, this road will also open access to strategic economic zones, including the Kabil Industrial Zone.

“The route will go directly from MPP to KDA. The impact will be significant for mobility and economic growth,” Rudi added.

For now, residents are asked to remain patient as the administrative process is finalized. With the project expected to begin soon, it is hoped that development and connectivity in Batam will be further optimized.
